Lesson Pricing and Information
The intro lesson is a morning course covering ground school basics, how to launch and land a paraglider and the rules of the air. The highlight of the lesson is several low altitude flights off the bottom of the training hill. The goal being to learn launching and landing skills. The intro course is great for anyone wondering if paragliding is for them or someone who just wants to try something new and exciting! The cost of this lesson is applied towards either package.
The full certification program takes you from a novice to a fully certified (P2) pilot. This means that you are licensed by the United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association to fly on your own without supervision at most regulated sites in the U.S. and across the world. The course is typically between 8 to 12 lessons depending on how well you progress and how well Mother Nature cooperates. The package includes unlimited lessons for up to three months. All equipment for the lessons is provided. Class includes ground school, canopy control, flight safety, videos, approximately 35 full flights at several sites, and radio supervision for your comfort and safety. We will also apply half of the package price to a new gear package (wing/harness/reserve). You have three months to complete this package (if it takes longer we do have programs you may upgrade to). You can pay the entire package up front or pay as you go, if you choose this option, please average $95 a lesson, that is applied toward the total lesson price. $500 OF YOUR LESSON PACKAGE IS APPLIED TOWARDS A NEW GEAR PACKAGE!

OUR TRAINING GROUNDS
Cloud 9 Paragliding has the privilege of teaching at the premier training site in the country, the Point of the Mountain in Salt Lake City, Utah. Pilots come from around the world to experience the smooth air, predictable weather and consistent ridge soaring conditions at the Point. In the mornings the wind normally blows from the south, so most lessons are taught on the South Side. In the afternoon, the winds normally switch and blow from the north, and we fly on the North Side. Both sights offer drive up convenience (no hiking the hill for each flight!). Flights of several hours are very common at the Point.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The morning of each lesson we will meet at the Point of the Mountain to plan each day's activities. Meeting times vary depending on the time of year. Morning lessons go from just after sunrise for around 3 hours or until weather conditions shut us down. Afternoon lessons usually begin 3 hours prior to sunset.. You need to bring plenty of water and food, wear long pants, and ankle supporting boots or shoes are a must. Gloves and extra layers are nice to have on cooler days. If you are going to be late or have to cancel, please call our cell 801-910-1109 (the shop cell number).
Lessons are taught year-round. Training begins with basic ground school, then quickly moves to canopy control (kiting) skills. Soon we move down the mountain to the "bunnyhill" and work on launching and landing techniques on a gentle slope. Many lessons will end with an hour of review, theory, and simulator work at the shop located 5 miles from the training site. Once you have mastered these basic skills, you are ready to fly off the top of the hill, (usually by the second lesson), and are on your way to mastering the art of flying with the birds.
WANT TO SIGN UP? A $100 deposit holds your spot and we send you a training manual and info packet on additional things you will need to know. Open schedules mean you can come as often as you would like, often out of town clients come for a week to 10 days to get the entire program done in one trip.
